Birthday Week!

Elder Hoggan had an awesome 20th birthday and could feel ALL of the love from the other side of the world. He bought LEDERHOSEN and loves it! Now he is a true Bavarian and a true German. He really loves Bayern a lot :)

Elders Hoggan and Evans were on trains forever last week. They went to a district meeting in Augsburg and then went to find LA's who live at the very bottom of their area. Contact was made with those the ward knew nothing about, but the branch president must have remembered them. Phone numbers were obtained and it was agreed that the missionaries would stop by monthly to meet. Distance keeps members of the church away sometimes. The area is absolutely GORGEOUS and is home to the Alps :) Germany is the best! SO AMAZING!

Herbert Fischer, Herbie, is a new investigator that met with the Elders three times last week. He's an alcoholic, feels the Spirit, shows interest in the gospel, and wants to be part of the ward. Herbie is a former investigator that seems to be ready this time to receive help from others and says that his problems with alcohol are gone. He missed church, but made it to the Lern Fest!

Lern Fest is put on by the city and a whole bunch of different businesses, schools, etc., come together to teach about what they do. The church is located right next to the fields where booths are built and where the festival takes place. Geneology was introduced and offered to help others learn about their ancestors using Familysearch. It was a super cool day :) The missionaries handed out invitations about a presentation and helped people set up accounts and begin their family tree. Eighteen or so came and it was a success! Herbie, Temple, and Solomon were there and loved it! Elder Hoggan did, too. He printed out a fan chart of his family :) It's so awesome! He totally loves family history now! He's new at it, but can't get enough of it. It was a great time for everyone there.

Sunday was typical. Temple came to church and Elder Hoggan translated for Americans that were there visiting. After the closing song, the cell phone began vibrating due to an unknown number. Elder Hoggan was on the back row and left to answer the call. It was Suzanne. She attended the Lern Fest and accepted a Book of Mormon. She excused herself for missing church, but asked if she could meet with the missionaries and have them tell her more. That is the golden question :) An appointment was made for Thursday and it will be exciting :):):)

Melanie, a newly baptized member, made Elder Hoggan a birthday cake. She is sooooo cool and sooooo excited about the gospel. More service on the farm was performed last week by the Elders and ended with an eating appointment. They had lasagna with Andy, a member, who may be marrying Melanie. He invited the missionaries to play basketball with he and his friends every Friday night :) This will be a new tradition!!!! Elder Evans doesn't really like basketball much, but Elder Hoggan hopes to change that!

Love is sent from Germany to all here at home. The church is true and there are miracles every day! Elder Hoggan is grateful for the birthday wishes he received last week!
